GETTING TO KNOW ME

My Story

I was born in Lawrenceville, GA, but soon moved to Albion, MI, where I spent the rest of my childhood. Since then I've gone to college in NYC, attended grad school in Pittsburgh, and moved to Lancaster County, PA for work, but Michigan still feels like home. As a young child, I wanted to be an inventor. I loved the idea of thinking up something new and unique, then just making it happen, regardless of how possible it seemed. As I grew older and college majors appeared on my radar, I learned that "Inventing" wasn't a major, but that if I wanted to build cool stuff, Engineering was a good choice. Around the same time that I was choosing a prospective major, I was also having the time of my life in high school theatre. I was meeting incredible new people, hearing their stories, creating more with them, and becoming people in times and places I never would have imagined. It was a way to bond, to learn, and to play that I knew the world need more of. I couldn't let it go. I eventually chose to pursue Mechanical Engineering, and I found my way to Columbia University through an organization called QuestBridge, then to Carnegie Mellon University, through the GEM Fellowship. I got to college with a newfound love of theatre, and my childhood dream of bringing incredible ideas to life, so I set about combining them, and the results are what fill this site.
